Arts in Education Series

The Georgia Ballet’s Arts in Education program is comprised of three distinct programs offered to all schools in the metropolitan Atlanta area.

1) Our Field Trip Program annually introduces over 14,000 metro Atlanta school children to the artistry and athleticism of live dance performance. Students attend abbreviated matinees of The Georgia Ballet’s regular performance series followed by a question and answer session. All performances are held at the Cobb County Civic Center and last approximately one hour. Student tickets are $6.00 each. One free chaperone may be admitted for every 10 students. Minimum purchase of $60.00 is required. Call 770-528-0881 for reservation materials.

2) On-site Lecture Demonstrations to schools bring dance to the lives of students throughout the community through interactive and informative performances. These up-close and intimate programs increase creative thinking, problem-solving, and a love of the arts.

3) Momentum, The Georgia Ballet’s newly initiated outreach program, gives underprivileged children the opportunity to learn the basics of dance training. In this special residency program involving partnerships with Title I schools, students focus on musicality, rhythm, quality of movement and basic dance terminology. Each of The Georgia Ballet’s Arts in Education programs allows educators the opportunity to share the Arts, specifically dance education, with their students either through live theatrical performance or a hands-on approach to learning - an opportunity that many students do not often have. All programs meet Georgia Quality Core Curriculum Standards, and study guides are provided to enhance the experience of each program.
