All proceeds benefit the programming of The Georgia Ballet including its professional performance series, training, and Arts In Education outreach. The online bidding will close Friday, February 3rd, at 6pm at which time bidding on these items will continue at the event auction on Saturday, February 4th and will close at approximately 9:30pm. Winning bidder will be notified Monday, February 6th and arrangements will be made for pickup. Private ballet lesson with Gina Hyatt-Mazon, former Principal Dancer with the Hamburg Ballet and Artistic Director of The Georgia Ballet: Gina Hyatt-Mazon is one of the most widely respected and beloved prima ballerinas of the modern age. During her career at Hamburg Ballet she drew countless admirers the world over through her artistry and skill on the stage. She has brought her expertise right here to Georgia and you can benefit from this one of a kind instruction!

One-hour private lesson with Ms. Hyatt-Mazon will be held at The Georgia Ballet studios in Marietta and scheduled at a time convenient to both Ms. Hyatt-Mazon and the winner.  It is the responsibility of the winner to contact Ms. Hyatt-Mazon through The Georgia Ballet to schedule the class, which will be tailored to meet the needs and level of the winner.

Gina Hyatt-Mazon began her ballet training in Berlin and Munich, Germany. In 1981, she won the gold medal in the German National Competition, and in 1982, the gold medal at the International Ballet Competition in Jackson, Mississippi. Ms. Hyatt-Mazon joined the Hamburg Ballet in 1982 and was a principal dancer there from 1986 to 1997. She worked closely with choreographer John Neumeier, creating the lead roles in many of his ballets such as Othello, A Cinderella Story, Peer Gynt, and Undine, and she has danced much of the classical repertoire including Giselle, Swan Lake, Romeo and Juliet, and The Nutcracker.

Private Coaching Session and lunch with Shuler Hensley, Tony Award Winning Performer:  A unique opportunity to study voice and/or acting with a Broadway star and the host of the annual Shuler Hensley Awards for excellence in Georgia High School musicals!  After the coaching session, conversation with Mr. Hensley continues over lunch for you and two additional guests (lunch for 4). This is a special opportunity to learn about the world of professional theater from a true Broadway star!

 

This one-hour private coaching session with Mr. Hensley, who lives in Marietta, will be scheduled at a time convenient to both Mr. Hensley and the winner.  After the coaching session, the winner and his/her parents are invited to continue a conversation with Mr. Hensley over lunch.

Shuler Hensley grew up in Marietta, where his mother, Iris Hensley, founded The Georgia Ballet. Mr. Hensley’s start in show business came at the age of four when he appeared as Fritz in The Georgia Ballet’s production of The Nutcracker! He was a member of the Atlanta Boy Choir and graduated from The Westminster School. He obtained his undergraduate degree at the Manhattan School of Music and his Masters of Vocal Performance at The Curtis Institute in Philadelphia.

Mr. Hensley's professional career began in Hamburg, Germany, where he performed the title role in The Phantom of the Opera. In 1998, he was cast as Jud Fry alongside Hugh Jackman’s Curley in the London production of Oklahoma!for which Mr. Hensley received the Olivier Award. When the show moved to Broadway, Mr. Hensley reprised his role and won the Tony Award, Drama Desk Award, and the Outer Critics Circle Award. Hensley originated the role of Kerchak in Disney’s Tarzan and recently played the Monster in the Broadway production of Mel Brooks’, which earned him nominations for the Drama Desk Award and the Outer Critics Circle Award for Outstanding Featured Actor in a Musical. Mr. Hensley has also appeared in numerous feature films, including Van Helsing with Hugh Jackman and Kate Beckinsale, Afterlife with Liam Neeson, and A Wedding for Bella, and television shows such as Law & Order: SVU.

The Strand Theatre Package:  This is a great opportunity for a business or personal reception in a beautiful historical building on the Marietta square. This package consists of the use of The Strand's second floor event space, movie passes, concessions vouchers, and a framed print of The Strand Theatre. Donated by Earl Reece and The Strand Theatre.

The Strand Theatre, a noted landmark on the historic Marietta Square in Cobb County, got its start as a major motion picture house in 1935. The Strand provided movie entertainment to thousands of people of all ages until it closed its doors as a movie house in 1976. Community leaders explored the possibility of restoring The Strand Theatre in 2002, and in December of 2008 The Strand was reopened to the public with the Atlanta Lyric Theatre’s showing of "Beauty and the Beast."

Leo Mazzone served as the Atlanta Braves pitching coach from 1990 to 2005. His pitching staffs anchored 14 division winners in Atlanta. Among his pitchers' accomplishments with the club are four ERA titles, six Cy Young Awards and nine twenty game winners.

Chuck Dowdle served as a sports announcer from 1985 until his December 2009 retirement. He is currently co-host and contributor of Bulldogs Game Week.
