GAB’s Young Dancer Program:

Movement for Mommy and Me! (Age 2) In this wonderful introductory class, parents join to dance along with their child. This class is specifically designed so that the parent can encourage the child with the movement. The Mommy and Me class includes stretching, rhythm exercises, traveling steps holding the parent’s hand, and of course, lots of fun!

June 11-July 16 (5 week session with no class Friday, July 2)

Friday 9:30am-10:15am, Tuition $75 for the entire 5 week session


PreBallet I (Age 3) This class is the first step to your little one becoming a budding ballerina. Our PreBallet classes encourage the student to develop good posture, rhythm and coordination. Simple exercises help develop and stretch young muscles. 

June 11-July 15 (5 week session, with no class Friday, July 2)

Friday 10:15-11:00am, Tuition $75 for the entire 5 week session          


SummerDance Mini-Camps (Ages 4-7) Our dance mini-camp offers exciting activities for young dancers including ballet, tap, mime, crafts, activities, music theory, dance history, nutrition, and fun! Dancers should bring water and a light snack each day.

July 5-16 (2 week session)

Ages 4-5     Tuesday/Thursday 4:30-6:30pm, Tuition $60 per week or $110 for both weeks

Ages 6-7     Monday/Wednesday/Friday, Tuition $90 per week or $170 for both weeks


SummerDance Mini-Intensive Program (Ages 8+) A two-week mini-intensive for beginning to intermediate dancers. Students will take a daily ballet class followed by a class in jazz, tap, or repertoire. Students should bring lunch, plus a light snack and water each day.

July 5-15 (2 week session)

Tuesday/Wednesday/Thursday 9:30am-12:30pm, Tuition $90 per week or $180 for both weeks 


Drama Camp (rising 3rd graders through exiting 5th graders) This exciting camp will focus on the final product: the performance! Campers will be involved in the preparation of all aspects of a play: sets, costumes, make-up and of course, performing! All participants will be cast in a one-act play that will be presented for family and friends on the last day. Campers should bring a pencil and paper each day, along with water and a light snack.

June 1-4 (1 week session)

Tuesday-Friday 10:00am-12:30pm, Tuition $150 for the week 


Dance/Arts/Drama Workshop (Ages 7-10) Our campers will experience a little bit of everything in this exciting NEW camp! Join us for an amazing week of dance, music, drama and art. Workshop students will take classes, work on crafts, and participate in fun activities designed to enrich their minds through the arts.

July 19-23 (1 week session)

Monday-Friday 9:00am-4:00pm, Tuition $65 a day or $275 for the week 


Teen Dance Camp: For the beginner through the experienced teen student who loves to study dance for personal fulfillment and recreation. The camp includes ballet, modern, jazz, repertoire, and conditioning.

July 5-15 (2 week session)

Monday-Thursday 5:30-8:00pm, Tuition $150 per week or $285 for both weeks

Intermediate and Advanced Programs

Intermediate and Advanced programs meet four to five days a week with a daily schedule including ballet and pointe classes (for those who have achieved physical readiness), plus classes in modern, jazz, body conditioning, men’s/boys’ class, repertoire, and lecture. Students should bring lunch, water, and a healthy snack each day. An exercise mat is needed for body conditioning classes.

Intermediate Program (Levels D and E)

            June 7-25 (3 week program, 2 classes per day)

            Monday-Thursday 10:15-1:30pm

            Tuition: $150 per week or $420 for 3 weeks

 

High-Intermediate Program (Levels B and C)

            June 1-25 (4 week program, 3 classes per day)

            Monday-Friday 12:00-4:45pm

            Tuition: $210 per week ($168 for week 1) or $775 for all 4 weeks

 

Advanced Program (Level A)

            June 1-25 (4 week program, 3 classes per day)

                        Monday-Friday 10:00-3:30pm

                        Tuition: $255 per week ($204 for week 1) or $945 for all 4 weeks

 

Open Intermediate and Advanced Ballet Classes

            $20 per class or $15 per class for currently enrolled GAB Upper School students 


Tuition and Fees

A $20.00 non-refundable registration fee per family will apply to all dance programs. Payment is due on May 17, 2010. A 5% tuition discount will be given to families with two or more students enrolled. A 5% “early bird” tuition discount will be given to students who pay in full by April 26, 2010. No refunds or credits will be given for missed classes.   


Audition Information

  • Current GAB students need not audition for summer placement. They will be informed of their placement in the program.

  • Students new to GAB will audition for all intermediate and advanced programs at the following times:

            Saturday, March 20, 2010

                        Ages 13+      10:00am-12:00pm

                        Ages 9-12*    12:15-1:30pm

                       -There is a $15.00 audition fee for students new to GAB.

*This audition is for nine-year olds who turn 10 by September 1st, 2010, or who are rising fifth graders. Nine-year olds who are rising fourth graders and who are not beginning dance students should call the school to arrange a placement audition. Nine year olds beginning dance for the first time do not need to audition, and may enroll for the SummerDance Mini-Intensive Program.  


SummerDance Attire

Girls

Hair must be styled in a bun off the face and neck. Short hair should be securely pinned away from the face. Pink tights and appropriate corresponding footwear (pink ballet shoes, black tap shoes, soft black jazz shoes, etc.) are required. Modern dance classes are practiced in bare feet. Girls should wear a solid color leotard based on their class level as follows:

Mommy and Me: Dancers may wear pink tights, leotards and shoes or comfortable clothing.

Boys

Hair should be neatly combed back out of the face. Uniform should consist of a white t-shirt, black tights, dancer belt, white socks, and black or white ballet shoes with elastic strap.  


The Georgia Ballet, founded in 1960 by Iris Hensley, is dedicated to providing outstanding instruction in ballet and related dance styles in a professional, structured, yet nurturing environment.
